Artist’s Statement

“Stories from far away fantasy worlds constantly find their way to my studio’s doorstep. Heroes and other creatures dwell there, and it is my job to illustrate, photograph, and become these fantastical characters.

My work explores the vulnerability of the invulnerable. It captures the good and the bad of living these fantastic lives and celebrates diversity and variety at every level.  I create comics and illustrations with a style inspired by both american-supehero comics and eastern manga, and tell heroic adventure stories with a varied cast of characters. This  illustrative work is informed by influences ranging from the American artist Brett Booth to Japanese artists Nakaba Suzuki and Tite Kubo, while my photographic work is influenced by photographers such as Amie E. and Riley West.

My costumes are created from the designs of the 2D and come to life in our real 3D world, while my photography captures the moments these fictional characters live among us. I choose to create my Illustration work both digitally and traditionally. My photography dwells in the digital world, and my costumes live in the physical one alongside me.“
